The European Commission has found that the battery electric vehicles (BEVs) value chain in China is unfairly subsidized, posing a threat to European competitors. The ongoing investigation, started last year, could have major implications for companies like Tesla. Tesla has the opportunity to provide evidence for a revised duty rate before the final decision. The EU plans to potentially impose measures within four months and increase tariffs on companies that did not cooperate with the investigation. BYD will face a tariff of 17.4 percent, while Geely and SAIC group will see tariffs of 20 and 38.1 percent, respectively. The US administration has also announced tariffs on various products.
