The European Commission allowed Tesla to provide evidence for a revised duty rate before the final decision in November. Tesla will pay a 9% duty rate on imported GigaShanghai-made vehicles. The Commission has found unfair subsidization in the Chinese BEV value chain, with other Chinese EV manufacturers facing tariffs up to 36.3%. China has opposed the EU’s measures as protectionist. BYD will pay a 17% tariff, Geely’s tariff was adjusted to 19.3%, and other cooperating companies will face an increased tariff of 21.3%. The Commission found errors in its initial calculations.
