Palo Alto in Discussions with Tesla to Introduce Robotaxis on City Streets

Palo Alto city leaders are in discussions with Tesla to explore the possibility of bringing the newly unveiled robotaxi service to local streets. The company unveiled a Robotaxi and a Robovan model with no pedals nor steering wheel, with plans to launch unsupervised Full Self Driving (FSD) next year in California and Texas. The potential deal could help offset financial pressures for the city by introducing autonomous vehicles into its transport network. Any move would need approval from the California Public Utilities Commission and the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Tesla will report its third-quarter earnings with updates on its AI roadmap.
