Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, responded to a social media post about an open letter signed by 120 experts against the use of hydrogen-powered cars in the Paris Olympics. He called hydrogen “silly for cars” but “barely sensible” for rockets. Musk has previously criticized hydrogen technology, stating that it makes more sense for rockets than cars. The letter criticizes Toyota’s promotion of hydrogen vehicles at the Olympics, arguing that they hinder the transition to green energy. It urges the Olympic Committee to use battery electric vehicles instead. Musk has also criticized government funding for hydrogen trucks, calling it “idiotic”.
