China’s Charging Pile Network Grows with Addition of 65,500 in September, Total Reaches 3.33 Million

China is solidifying its position as the largest market for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, with an increase in sales and expansion of charging networks. In October, NEV retail sales are projected to reach 1.15 million units, reflecting a 49% increase from the previous year. China’s public charging network has reached 3.329 million stations, with an additional 65,500 units added in September. Private charging infrastructure is also growing rapidly, with 8.1 million private charging piles recorded by September. Ionchi, a fast-charging venture by BMW and Mercedes-Benz, has opened its first seven public charging stations as part of a plan to install 1,000 stations across 100 cities by 2026.
