In September, Norway Sets New Record with 96.4% Adoption Rate for Battery Electric Vehicles

Norway reached a milestone in September with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) making up 96.4% of new car sales, aiming for zero-emission by 2025. Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association Secretary General Christina Bu stated electric cars are popular even in rural areas. Norway now has more fully electric cars registered than internal combustion and hybrid vehicles. Tesla played a significant role in this achievement, with the Model 3 and Model Y being the top-selling vehicles. Despite a 17% decline in year-to-date sales, Tesla’s Model Y is now the world’s best-selling vehicle in Norway. Tesla surpassed Nissan Leaf as Norway’s top-selling car.
